Winona Lakes Lodge is a breathtakingly beautiful place in itself and serves as the agricultural hub for ranch operations. The Lodge is a large, completely enclosed facility that provides a place for sorting, storing, and preparing produce for sale. The covered outdoor area adjoining the Lodge has proved to be not only great for produce handling, but also a popular venue for weddings and parties for friends and family. In fact, we are considering making the Winona Lakes Lodge available for weddings and other events on a commercial basis. Some of the most scenic overlooks on the ranch are on the bluffs and high fields just a short walk from the Lodge. The elevation changes create spectacular views and an excellent hiking experience over some wildly beautiful terrain and spring fed creeks.
The site is both rustic and beautiful and brings back a certain nostalgia for the old Wild, Wild West, when cowboys and gunslingers rode their horses into town and gathered at the local saloon. The Lodge entry resembles an old western saloon front, and the facility sits in the middle of 100 acres of hay meadows and borders a 325 acre wildlife preserve complete with zebras, rams, elk, and several species of deer. The allure of the setting is enhanced by overlooking Elk Lake, a magnificent spring fed lake that separates the Lodge from a county road. A huge metal equipment barn sits adjacent to the Lodge and houses much of our farm equipment during hay season and provides covered storage for hay.
The high fenced wildlife enclosure also provides secure pastures for the bull calves. Their presence in the Lodge area adds to the old west "feel" of the place, and they coexist very well with their wilder pasture mates.
